Somerset House is a spectacular neo-classical building in the heart of London, sitting between the Strand and the River Thames. During summer months 55 fountains dance in the courtyard, and in winter you can skate on London’s favourite ice rink. Somerset House also hosts open-air concerts and films, contemporary art and design exhibitions, family workshops and free guided tours of spaces usually hidden to visitors.
The Portico and Navy Board Rooms:
Located on the first floor of the South Wing, these stunning rooms are adjascent to one another and offer plenty of natural light with original features and panoramic views of the river. Included in the hire fee are several breakout spaces, along with two private balconies in the main Portico Room for your guests to enjoy. The Portico Rooms can hold up to 100 in theatre style, 56 in Cabaret, 54 in Classroom and 40 in Boardroom style.
The East Wing
For a limited time only this winter, the East Wing of Somerset House is available for hire! The East Wing offers direct access to the iconic Edmond J. Safra Fountain Courtyard and an opulent view of our world famous building. It is an ideal space for press days, drinks receptions for up to 300, intimate lunches and dinners. It will also be a coveted location for Christmas parties; from 11th November guests can incorporate an exclusive hire or group tickets to SKATE at Somerset House into their event booking exclusive hires before September when tickets go on sale to the general public.
For those just looking to soak up the festive atmosphere, Fortnum & Mason offer sanctuary by way of retail therapy in the Christmas Arcade. This autumn also sees Hair By Sam McKnight in the Embankment Galleries, an exhibition looking at hair from a new perspective and contextualising its wider cultural significance and the role of the session stylist within fashion. It will include some of the most iconic images in popular culture and some of fashion’s most memorable looks, from Princess Diana’s short, slicked back style to Madonna’s Bedtime Stories, and Tilda Swinton channelling David Bowie.Packages
